BEWARE advertisements in the weekend colour supplements and by mail order which say things like 'One button, MP3 recording! The last thing most people want is 'one button' recording. You need to be able to alter what you've recorded - to take out repetitive notes where an LP has 'stuck', to identify and name tracks properly when the software doesn't do it and to cut off periods of silence.
